This had the potential of being great. My home fishing spot is full of submerged stumps and many of transom mount transducers have bit the dust. The removable one was a plus. I also fish with several other friends and the portability was nice. However, the display was so bad you could hardly even see it in the sunlight. I would NOT recommend this because of the weak display. I promptly returned it.

The suction cup for attaching the transducer to the boat does not hold well. I rent boats at the local state park, which was my reason for buying a portable unit. The suction cup held on and off for about the first 3 or 4 outings....then it would not stick to the boat at all. It was easy enough to build something(all home depot stuff) to clamp it to the boat though....and Cabelas sells a bracket for attaching.Other than that the unit is great. You can easily mark fish with...tons of customization and display options. We caught bass, drop shop fishing, in 30 feet of water the first time we used it. Worth it if you rent boats and want to fish ledges, humps, etc....
