The Humminbird 958c Combo features a brilliant color, wide-screen 480V x 800H 8-Inch display, 83/200KHZ dual beam sonar with 1000 Watts of transmit power, GPS chartplotting with external antenna and advanced Fishing System capabilities. Rugged construction and ease of use make Humminbird fishfinders a favorite of anglers worldwide. The built-in Contour XD chart covers the contiguous U.S.A. coastline and inland lakes and rivers. On the coast, this clearly shows features as small as canals, and many coastal navigation lights. Inland, the Contour XD features virtually all recreational lakes and rivers, plus hundreds of thousands of small lakes that don’t appear on other charts. In other words, your lake is likely to be there! Internal memory has a capacity of 2,750 waypoints, 45 routes, and 50 tracks of 20,000 points each. Optional network modules include an external GPS antenna, WeatherSense barometer, wireless sonar link, Cannon Link for control of downrigger, Interlink for multiple units, and radar. Sonar features include Freeze Frame, instant image update, real time sonar window, selective Fish ID, echo enhancement, screen snapshot to SD card, split screen zoom, True Arch technology, and wide/narrow cone split screen. The user-friendly technology includes custom digital readouts, large digit view, quick disconnect mounting, triplog, and X-press menu system. I purchased the Humminbird 998C Si Bundle for my husband's birthday. He has been mentioning for some time how he would love to have one but can not see paying almost $2000 for one. He owns three other Humminbird Fish Finders that were mounted to our 21 foot bass boat. This unit has replaced everything and anything he uses for finding fish and GPS signals.It was easy to install. He mounted it on the dash with the RAM Mounting Systems RAM-D-111U-C heavy duty RAM Universal Marine Electronic Mount. It sits securely in place with no worries of it taking a plunge into the waters. The Navigation Bundle is a must! It includes all four regions of the US as well as the waters near Canada. Being that it is the "Si" model, the unit is upgradeable and expandable to fit all your needs.It comes with side sonar as well as down imaging. It's amazing how clear the images are. Use your side image out to 240ft on each side of the boat to find structure on the bottom. Even in three foot of water the side image is clear out past 100 feet. If you find something off to the side of the boat and want to check it out, you simply use the cursor to mark the spot as a waypoint. Then you use the navigation to go back over it to see it on the down scan. You can select an object and zoom in for a closer look. The unit has 2 SD cards slots to store pictures and video recordings of the images. Mark your waypoints with the touch of a button. There is a variety of split screen options. The LCD display is large and the resolution is vivid and clear even in sun light. The GPS is very fast to link up to satellite signal unlike our Garmin hand held.One suggestion - keep your fingers off the screen. My husband can't stop pointing things out on the screen and leaving finger prints. To avoid smudges and dirtying the LCD screen, we purchased the ScreenGuardZ HD Anti-Glare Durable Screen Protector for Apple iPad and cut it down to size to fit the LCD screen.If you are looking for a fishfinder that gives you depth, temperature, track and chart plotting, GPS speed, up to 3,000 waypoints, side and down sonar imaging, network capabilities and overall an awesome way to find fish holding structures - then the humminbird 998c SI is for you.***Make sure to check out the images we have attached on the main page.I am an avid Amazon shopper but sad to say I found this unit for 10% less on a different website, so make sure you do some "searching" before buying.

Installation was easy and straightforward. The navigation on screen is easily learned and used. I only have a few hours on this unit on my outboard. The only downside so far is that I see alot of prop wash on screen while underway. I installed the sending unit per the instructions so it may need some tweaking. Overall, one of the best Combo units that was a non touch screen that I researched.

When I first got the unit I located the transucer on the left side of the transom and everything worked fine EXCEPT the LEFT side imaging!!! I was about to send the unit in ( Humminbird service is outstanding ) when a new update came and after restoring the defaults and installing the new update VIOLA! everything worked beautifully. I should have quit while I was ahead. I installed the most recent update restoring the defaults as required and TOTALLY lost the Side Imaging - both sides. I'm in the process of trying the suggested fixes before I send the unit in for repairs but have had trouble with my Powerwinch ( see my review ) so have not launched it since I tried the fixes. I'm probably going to send the unit in even if it does work this time just to make sure there isn't anything inherently wrong with the unit. Oh one wierd qwirk. At least on this unit when you select feet for depth and Knots for speed; distances switch to (metric) KILOMETERS - which makes no sense at all. Distance would have to be in METERS and speed in KM/hr to have distances in kilometers. Odd.When the side imaging worked it was fantastic - and I'm sure it will be again, though I have sending it in during peak fishing season)it's just that you expect better results when you spend the kind of money this thing cost.
