VERY satisfied!
By BoatGuy
Wow, I think the last two guys are off their rockers! This E7D that I added to a second E7 and a RD418D has been awesome. Their built-in fish finders are amazing. Lowrance only has 250 watts, Raymarine is 600 watts. That's ALOT MORE clarity. Auto randing and crystal clear. The built-in GPS has been capable of going through TWO fiberglass walls. If people only read the above posts or reviews, they really don't know how good these new Raymarine plotters are. They have been flawless!I have an old Raymarine autopilot on my boat and with an adapter Andy spoke of, it works perfectly with the E7D. Also, the plotter runs the autopilot too!-- an OLD AP too.If a guy doesn't know how to read an installation manual. then I guess he gets what he gets. but the manuals are free online and will walk a guy through an entire install.Listen, just so that you know, there have already been 5 UPDATES to these new plotters. They have added a TON OF NEW FEATURES FOR FREE.Raymarine also has a 3 year warranty when you register it. the other guys are 1 or 2 years.Below is a link to their free update latest addition.[...]

Poor support
By Moody38
Bought this beautiful product 45 days ago. Came with non updated software. After updating I realized that the unit does not communicate at all with Raymarine ST60+ wind vane. In addition it only partially communicate with ST7000 auto pilot controller. Raymarine provides an inadequate customer support that after a very long communication session were ready to admit that at the moment there is no support for communication to ST60+ and others but they will have it at some point next quarter. enough said.

Proceed With Caution
By TommyCel
In the market for a chartplotter upgrade for some time, I was attracted by the new WiFi feature in Raymarine's e7 unit. So, over a period of a couple of weeks, I spent some time researching the product at a brick and mortar marine store nearby that had one set up for demo, including the WiFi feature broadcasting to an iPad. I made four or five visits, spending considerable time there getting familiar with the unit's operation and doing side-by-side comparisons with Garmin's 740s, also a touchscreen unit, but of older vintage technology. The processor in Raymarine's e7 seems to be slower than in the older 740s, as there is some annoying lag in panning around a chart. The zoom knob, in the upper right hand corner seemed clunky and unnecessary when compared with the 740s' total on-screen ergonomics. The Navionics charts that Raymarine's e7 uses seemed not to be anti aliased (compared to Garmin's charts), which, to me, was distracting, and the WiFi connection to the iPad, was impressive, but the actual image on the iPad was distractingly blurry and could only be used for very general reference only.I am not in the marine business and am not affiliated with any marine electronics company, but I have owned boats for more than 40 years. I had a similar experience to Moody38 with Raymarine's technical support. At that time I had a Raymarine autopilot system which experienced multiple problems. The Raymarine technical support experience was not pleasant, and I never did get all of the bugs worked out of the autopilot. Because of this experience, and because the e7 did not perform as well as expected, I made the decision to purchase another chartplotter.
